Helpful for breathing, relaxation, exercising and calmness

While I really don't think that everyone can lose weight JUST by breathing correctly, this book is valuable for teaching some very, very good techniques. Most people breath intercostally (via their rib muscles) and don't breathe through the diaphragm, that thin membrane-like muscle under the lungs. Singers, wind musicians, yoga students, dancers and athletes learn to drop that muscle down to expand the chest and take air deeply into the lungs.

Air that goes deeply into the lungs cleanses the lungs and oxygenates more of the body. More oxygen means more burning of the metabolism, hence the premise of this book.

While some of the exercises in Jumpstart Your Metabolism are a bit cutesy, they actually can help relax you, help you sleep better and even exercise more easily. I found that if I did some of the breathing with mouth closed, concentrating on every breath, I could do much more exercise with a lot less panting and discomfort.

So my opinion is that, while I doubt that pounds will drop off with every breath you take, this book is quite helpful to practice breathing exercises that augment your exercise and relaxation routines. And certain that the exercises can help before public speaking or anytime you might feel nervous (like a job interview, for example.) The content is good. JD (Delaware, USA)

Excellent information; highly readable

Excellent Product and Information
This information is great! It helped to increase my metabolism, but more then that, it helped to lower my blood pressure and increase my stamina. While exercising, it helped to control my breath and the increased oxygen helps to flush out lactic acid, thus virtually eliminating sore muscles when used correctly. I love it! It Really Works!,
I was skeptical when purchasing this book, of course. Upon reading it, I started paying attention to my breathing, and couldn't believe how often I was holding my breath and not breathing at all. I've become much more conscious about it, and when I notice that I'm holding my breath, usually when under stress, I do some of Pam's exercises.

The benefit? The weight is literally falling off. Although I am dieting, I am doing the same diet as pre-Pam. Before I read this book, I could not lose ANY weight, no matter how "good" I was. Now, doing the same diet, I have been losing 2-3 pounds per week, and without much exercise. I've lost over 20 lbs, and have about 25 more to go, and am confident I will reach that goal very soon. Best weight loss product I've used yet!
I've tried numerous diet pills, all kinds of cardiovascular exercise which I found hard on my knees, and I've even gone and done the Yoga and Pilates thing. The exercises in this book, especially the bikini breath, were amazing. I was skeptical, but I was in the dressing rooms one day with my normal size and brand of clothes, and they were all either too loose, or I just seemed longer and leaner in them.
